Software Engineers

As a member of ALK's development team you will be exposed to a variety of cutting edge hardware and technology. Our Software Engineers design, write, develop, modify, debug, test, and implement software applications for transportation logistics. Generally focused on: Product installation scripts; User Interface programming; large-scale data manipulation; map rendering through graphics. Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree
  • Must be proficient in C/C++ programming in a Windows environment
  • Exposure to Windows CE and/or Smartphone development a plus
  • Knowledge of transportation networks a plus
  • Applicant will be required to take a programming test
  • Successful candidate must live within reasonable driving distance and must have a clear command of the English language

Technical Support Analyst

As a Technical Support Analyst, you will be responsible for diagnosing and assisting customers in resolving problems with ALK's suite of software products. The product support is providing primarily through phone and email. Our Technical Support Analysts also assist with product testing and bug reporting.

Requirements:

GIS Data Interns

ALK is currently looking for several GIS Data Interns to add to our team. As a GIS Data Intern, you will work with the Data Team on updating our proprietary "in car navigation" software. Your responsibilities include collecting data and imputing it into our proprietary software while simultaneously updating a database.

The data to be collected is truck and recreational vehicle restriction and oversized information that is used to change truck and recreational vehicle routes across the United States. You will be able to see first-hand how your findings improve current truck and recreational vehicles routes. State fuel tax auditors, state troopers, the United States Department of Defense, RV customers and over 22,000 shippers and carriers in North America are among the many customers that will benefit from your work.

As a GIS Intern, you will gain valuable experience working with a company that creates car, truck and rail navigation software solutions for use in North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and Oceania.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an Associates or BS program in Geography, Civil Engineering, Environment Studies or other technical field with an emphasis in GIS use and development.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to work both independently and in a group.

Quality Assurance Analyst

ALK is adding two Quality Assurance Analysts to our growing GPS navigation and map data routing QA/Test team. As a Quality Assurance Analyst, you will be responsible for testing ALK's suite of products.

Requirements:

  • BS or equivalent
  • 1 - 3+ years of Quality Assurance or Product Testing
  • Highly detail-oriented, self motivated and independent
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with ability to work within a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of software development life cycle processes and quality assurance methodology a plus

Responsibilities will include:

  • Testing of navigation software on consumer electronic mobile devices and web-based applications
  • Performance testing of web-based applications (stress/load) with automated testing tools
  • Creating and maintaining standard test plans for repeatable execution on various ALK product lines
  • Clear and concise defect reporting and tracking practices
  • Working closely with internal teams (Development, Project Management, Marketing, Tech Support and Business Development) to ensure highest level of quality for software releases.

ALK Technologies is adding a Staff Accountant to its growing back office. The Staff Accountant's responsibility will include AP/AR, cash management, bank reconciliations, general ledger, journal entry preparation, participation in internal/external audits, maintaining accounting records, account analysis, and participating in special projects as assigned.

Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 3-5 years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks, as well as posses excellent oral, written, verbal, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills. The ideal candidate will be hard working, a quick learner, detail oriented, well organized and have the ability to work alone as well as with others.
